Glyfada has to be one of the best beaches in Corfu if not Greece. It is a long stretch of sand that gently shelves into the sea. It's famous amongst Athenians for being THE beach to visit in Corfu and therefore in August it does get very crowded with Greeks and Italians.
| Glyfada is a long sandy beach There are plenty of bars and places to eat, plus the famous Aloh Bar for the young & trendy! You can hire pedalos and sun beds You can peddle easily round to Pelekas and Myrtiotissa beaches This beach get packed out in July/August with Greeks & Italians, so be warned! A great place for people watching!

How to get to Glyfada Beach.
The quickest way to drive to Glyfada is to head for Sinarades,
Pelekas and then
Glyfada - so if you look on your map you should be able to see the
general direction you must go.
From Agios Gordios, drive up the
main street until you reach the main bus stop/GB's Supermarket and bear left
towards Sinarades. Continue on this road past the Pink Palace Youth
Hostel, up the hill and inland. Past the petrol filling station on
your left and for a further 1/2 mile or so, until you come to the turning on
your left into Sinarades village. Take this turn and drive through the
village, take care as the roads are pretty narrow. Once you are
through the main part of the village you will come across a roundabout, go
straight over and continue until you reach a T junction. At this point
turn left and continue on this road for a couple of miles, you can see
Pelekas village up on the hill in front of you.
You will come to a cross
roads, at which you turn left heading towards Pelekas village. Continue on
this road through the village past the village square with a few small bars
and round the corner. As you continue up the road it splits in two,
bear left and follow this road all the way until you reach Glyfada beach,
you will sign posts along the way to the Grand Louis Glyfada Hotel.
You return along the same route
that you took to get here. |
